Here is a photo of the Roger Taney statue found on the grounds of Maryland‘s State House. Taney was the 5th Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court and was from Calvert County Maryland. I am not a history buff by any stretch but I do like to photograph monuments and memorials. I am often amazed at the detail and thought that is placed into designing and creating them.
I messed with this photo quite a bit. It is a single shot RAW image that I saved at 5 different exposure values, then edited in HDR software. It isn’t the most compelling HDR work, but it achieved what I was looking for in an otherwise flat image. Oddly what my eyes are drawn to are the details expressed in the statehouse behind Taney. My eyes are drawn to the detail in the shadows covering the wood columns and moldings, contrasted with the red brick.
