And now for the regularly scheduled post for the day. Here is a shot of an Eastern Air Lines plane from the Air and Space Museum in Washington DC. I shot this on an unexpected trip to the DC mall in January 2011. My daughter was at an audition at the Kennedy Center that was running very long. So I decided to take my Son over to the Smithsonian while we waited. Turned out to be a very fun afternoon.
The hiatus is over, photos are back. Here is a Mallard duck I found swimming in the reflecting pool on the National Mall in DC. My break from the blog was good for me. First, I have been too busy to really do the blog justice. And two I needed to make sure this was the medium I wanted to continue to display my photography. And third, Lacrosse season has started for my son, so many of my photos lately have been of his team, and thus not really what the blog is set up to be about. It’s good to be back.
Well, the late winter scarcity of new photos has me digging through the archives again. This is from last February (2010) for our President’s Day visit to the US Botanic Gardens on the mall in DC.
So obviously by looking at the shot settings immediately prior to this photo I was inside the very poorly lit Natural History Museum. This, of course, is the Smithsonian National Art Gallery between 7th and 6th Streets NW, on the National Mall in DC. I bought a new lens shield last weekend that caused the vignetting on the top of the frame. So I added some to the bottom as well. Me Jack and our friend Jordan spent Sunday in DC visiting a few Museums on the Mall while Victoria auditioned at the Kennedy Center for a summer intensive camp she wants to attend.
This weeks photo theme in Digital Photography School’s theme calendar is “Macro”. My personal schedule has been one that hasn’t allowed me to get out and take photos lately. So, this is a flower I captured at the US Botanic Gardens last February.
